What the website remembers, and what you choose

Effective 19 September 2026

We keep website tracking simple.

TAPDX uses a small amount of browser storage to keep the shop working, and optional first-party analytics to understand how people use the website so we can improve it.

No adverts, nothing that follows you to other websites, and nothing sold to anybody. Only what is listed here.

This policy should be read together with the TAPDX Tags Privacy Policy and POPIA Notice.

1. What the website remembers

The TAPDX website currently remembers three kinds of information.

  • That you are signed in — so you can open your own orders without typing your order number and email every time.
  • Which friend sent you — so if you arrived through a friend's link, their saving is still there when you reach the checkout.
  • That this browser has visited before — so we can see which pages help people and which ones confuse them, and fix the confusing ones. It counts this browser under a random code, not your name. If you go on to order, we keep that code with your order so we can tell which route brought you to us.

The first two are part of how the shop works. The last is the optional one you choose.

2. Optional website analytics

Our analytics help us understand which pages people visit, where visitors came from, which buttons or journeys are useful, where customers leave a journey, how people interact with videos or page content, and which acquisition routes lead to orders.

We use this information to improve TAPDX and make better product and business decisions.

At launch, TAPDX does not send these website analytics events to a separate third-party analytics platform such as Amplitude.

3. Your choice

When you first visit TAPDX, we ask you one question about optional website analytics, and you answer it with “That's fine” or “No thanks”.

Saying “No thanks” costs you nothing else on the website. You can still shop, sign in, place an order, open your own orders, receive a referral saving you are entitled to, and contact us for help. Everything the shop needs in order to work keeps working.

4. What happens when you choose “No thanks”

Under the current website setup, optional counting may begin when you arrive, unless your browser has previously recorded a “No thanks” choice.

When you select “No thanks”, we stop counting that browser from that moment on, and we clear the counting identifiers already stored on the device straight away. We do not put them back afterwards to get around your answer.

What we had already received before you answered is not erased in that moment. Those records are removed in the ordinary way described in section 9.

5. We do not call linkable information “anonymous”

TAPDX analytics normally begin with a browser or session identifier rather than your name.

However, if optional analytics are active and you later place an order, some acquisition information may be associated with that order so we can understand how the customer found TAPDX.

For that reason, we do not describe this information as permanently anonymous.

We use it for TAPDX's own website and acquisition measurement, not to create advertising profiles about you.

6. What we do not do

At launch, TAPDX does not use website tracking to follow you across unrelated websites, create third-party behavioural advertising profiles, retarget you around the internet, sell your browsing history, sell your website activity, or change your product price because of how you browsed the site.

We also do not require you to accept optional analytics in order to buy from TAPDX.

7. Necessary website functions

Some browser or session information is necessary for the service you have asked for.

This may include information needed to keep you signed in, protect your account, maintain checkout or transaction integrity, remember an applicable referral journey, and provide other website functions that cannot reasonably operate without it.

These functions are separate from optional website analytics. Choosing “No thanks” to analytics does not switch off necessary security or transaction functions.

8. Referrals

Referral information is used to preserve an applicable referral journey and correctly recognise an eligible referral benefit.

Referral information is different from optional website analytics. Declining optional analytics does not automatically remove an eligible referral.

TAPDX has not published a fixed referral-memory period in this policy. Referral information is kept only for as long as reasonably required for the referral, the applicable transaction and related record-keeping purposes.

9. How long we keep website analytics

Ordinary detailed website-interaction records generally follow an approximately 90-day retention period. This covers the detail of a visit, such as scrolling, button interactions and movement from page to page.

Two kinds of record are kept beyond that period while they are still reasonably necessary for a documented purpose: the record of how a visitor first arrived, which is what acquisition measurement is read from, and the page views that a running experiment is still counting.

TAPDX may retain aggregated or appropriately de-identified information for longer so we can understand longer-term trends such as visits, page performance, acquisition sources, and conversion trends.

Where information no longer needs to stay connected to a browser, a customer or an order, we will not keep that connection without a genuine reason.

10. Your saved choice

The website remembers whether you selected “That's fine” or “No thanks”, so we do not ask you the same question over and over.

If your browser clears its website data, uses private browsing, or blocks browser storage, or if you use another browser or device, TAPDX may no longer be able to recognise the earlier choice and the notice may appear again.

At launch, TAPDX does not provide a separate cookie preference centre on the website for changing a choice you have already saved. We will not tell customers that such a control exists unless it actually exists.

11. Browser controls

Your browser or device may also let you clear website data, block browser storage, or browse privately.

If you use those controls, they may sign you out of TAPDX, remove the answer you gave us about analytics, or remove a referral your browser was holding.

Clearing what your browser holds does not delete the order, payment and customer records TAPDX keeps in its own systems. Those are covered by our Privacy Policy and POPIA Notice.

12. If our tracking model changes

If we ever introduce something materially different, we will assess that change before we rely on it, and update what we tell you here before or as the new use begins.

By materially different, we mean a change such as a separate third-party analytics platform, advertising pixels, retargeting, cross-site behavioural advertising, or another tracking purpose that is genuinely different from the one described here.

A technology being available is not a reason for us to use it.

13. Questions about website privacy

If you have a question about how TAPDX uses website information, contact hello@tapdxtags.com.

For wider information about your personal information and your rights under POPIA, please see the TAPDX Tags Privacy Policy and POPIA Notice.

Our approach

  • We keep what the shop genuinely needs in order to work, and we ask you about the rest.
  • We do not hide advertising tracking inside something we have labelled necessary.
  • We do not call information anonymous when it can reasonably be linked back to your order.
  • We do not collect something about you simply because we could.
  • We do not keep detailed records about you for longer than there is a real reason to.

And the promise that governs all of the others: what we tell you here is what the TAPDX website actually does.
